The Steubenville Tootlers is an OktoberFest style German band. All music is played in the traditional Oom-pah style. Although The Tootlers are new to the social media scene, the band can trace its roots to the mid-80’s. Formed originally as Das Band by Steve Wentsky, the band changed ownership in the mid-90’s and was renamed in 2002. We have played locally in the Greenville, SC area and regionally throughout South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia.
What does “OktoberFest style” mean? The most realistic Oktoberfest experience is a lively blend of tradition, crowd energy, and simple pleasures. The air hums with brass music, laughter, and the rhythmic clinking of glasses. It’s not just a festival—it’s a full sensory immersion. That’s what we bring to your Oktoberfest celebration.
The Steubenville Tootlers bring a spirited, slightly homespun charm to the classic German Oompah sound, blending tradition with a touch of local personality. Dressed in a mix of authentic lederhosen and playful, slightly mismatched accessories, they lean into both precision and humor. The tuba and drums lay down a rich, bouncing foundation while tenor sax, trumpet and keyboard dance brightly over the top, giving their music a lively, almost storytelling quality. The band members grin often, exchanging cues with exaggerated nods and tapping feet, clearly enjoying every note. They’re known for engaging the crowd—encouraging singalongs, clapping rhythms, and even the occasional joke between songs—making their performance feel less like a formal concert and more like a joyful, shared celebration.
The group is available all year. Keep in mind though, if you are booking for Oktoberfest, this includes the period from September 1 through October 31 locally, bookings are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Please call for pricing. We do have a lot of repeat customers who have standing reservations every year, but we will make every effort to accommodate your request.
We look forward to working with you to make your Oktoberfest celebration a great success!
